The mechanical production of pulp can be divided into two categories: groundwood pulp production and the thermo-mechanical process (TMP). In groundwood pulp production, the logs of wood are pressed on grinding stones by means of mechanical presses. In the TMP process, the wood is processed into chips which are mostly of a uniform size.

De-inking is a chemical and physical process for removing printing ink fillers and other pigments contained in recycled paper and simultaneously increasing the brightness of the waste paper stock. The process involves the use of various chemicals and flotation techniques.
When wood free pulp is being produced, the fibers are purified by fully removing the lignin. In order to achieve this, the wood chips are cooked with a chemical solution and then washed and bleached. Basically, there are two different pulping methods.

Universal stands :
Siemens VAI has just introduced a new generation of universal stands using Red Ring design. Universal stands can be easily converted to conventional horizontal rolling, according to production requirements.
Endless rolling technology : Billet welding for more flexible and effective rolling:
This billet welding system automatically welds billets together in a hot state in a bar or a wire rod mill line, in order to produce an endless rolling process. It is suitable for installation both in new plants and for the refurbishing or upgrading of existing capacity.
Stainless and special steel technology: Our rolling mill equipment for special steels is uniquely designed to meet the most stringent demands with regard to product tolerances. Reproducible product quality maintained by means of high-level process automation (Roll Master and Roll shop Master).

Cooling beds : Siemens VAI cooling beds are designed using standard elements that can be combined in accordance with plant product mix requirements and production capacity. Full mechanical component standardization assures constant equipment quality, as well as high performance levels.
Straighteners : Multi-strand bar straighteners have been developed, utilizing top-driven roller machines that are suitable both for continuous and start-stop operation.
