Our presence in the power sector of Bangladesh started in the mid 60s. As first project we completed the instrumentation and control system as well as the HV/MV substations for two units of Ashuganj Power Station in 1968. Today we are known in Bangladesh for our expertise in realizing Power Generation projects and projects for HV and MV substations, Prepaid Metering projects and infrastructural projects for industry (Textiles, Steel, and Pharmaceuticals) and the private sector (Hotels, commercial and corporate buildings) in Bangladesh.

Reference projects

1968	Instrumentation, controls, substations and other electrical equipment installations for two units of 210 MW Ashuganj Steam Turbine Power Station.
1985	Siemens supplied 33/11/0.415 kV Power Supply System for the National Assembly Building.
1993	We completed 230/132 225 MVA and 132/33 kV 40MVA substations at Comilla North and extension of 132 kV substation at Comilla South and Chandpur under 230 kV Ashuganj-Comilla Transmission Line Project for Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
1996	Siemens Bangladesh supplied the first 11kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to Chittagong Chemical Complex. This was the first of it's kind in Bangladesh to an industrial complex. GIS saves space and is maintenance free which saves cost.
2001	We supplied 33kV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) to DESCO (Dhaka Electric Supply Company) for the first time in Bangladesh to a power utility company.
2002	We supplied 11kV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) to BPDB, largest utility company in Bangladesh. So far Siemens has supplied 100 nos medium voltage GIS panels (11kV).
2003	Siemens has completed 33/11 kV MV GIS substation installation and renovation of 9, 11/.415 kV substations on turnkey basis with Chittagong Port Authority worth BDT 220 Million.
2004	Turnkey 132/33 kV Grid Substation extension job at Shampur where Siemens is a turnkey contractor, is under completion.
2004	Up-gradation and extension of 3, 230/132 kV sub-station all with PGCB worth BDT 730 million which is currently being implemented.
2004	Siemens will supply, complete installation, testing and commissioning of 70 MW Steam Turbine plant including auxiliaries to upgrade existing capacity of Mymensingh 140 MW power plant to 210 MW.
2005	Siemens Bangladesh Limited introduced the electricity pre-payment metering project in Sylhet and Sirajgonj, which is the first of its kind in South Asia.
2005	Work has started on the first turnkey contract for new 230/132 kV Super Grid Substation by Siemens Finland at Khulna South, first of its kind by Siemens in Bangladesh. We are about to complete this project by current year (2007).
2006	Siemens Bangladesh will supply HV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) in Joydevpur 132/33 kV grid substation. This is the first time in Bangladesh that a HV AIS sub-station is being converted to GIS sub-station.
2006	We completed a turn-key contract for newest 5-Star hotel of Dhaka, Radisson Water Garden Hotel. We supplied the complete sub-station for the hotel and completed total electrical works of the Hotel. We are currently working on turn-key contacts for two more 5-Star Hotel projects in Dhaka which are slated to be completed in 2007. Those two Hotels are: Westin, Dhaka and extension of Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.
